Good News

After a week of holding our breath, we let out a sigh of relief today after meeting with the Oncologist. The good news is...the cancer has not spread beyond the lymph nodes, and the pathology on the lymph node dissection showed only 2 of 6 nodes were malignant. Yeah!! Chemotherapy will begin on July 28th and treatments will continue every three weeks until mid December. After Christmas, Radiation will begin everyday for 5 weeks. After that, hormone and biologic therapy will continue for 5 years. My mom is feeling extrememly grateful and very blessed at this time. She's a little tired and worn out, but continues to strengthen all of us with her positive attitude and her unwavering faith. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her, but I am convinced that she will beat this and come out of it stronger than ever!

My fried always had someone come and they took turns :) I'd love to RESERVE my spot now please! We are so grateful for this good news! Did they fully classify it then as Stage 2 or 3? We love you and pray for your strength before Chemo starts! Thanks for keeping us posted! Love you....~Nikki

Hi Shirlene: Sara finally helped me to be able to respond. I tried calling once and left a voice mail. I will try again. Cec and I are so pleased that reports have come back positively for you. We hope all the best in each and everyday. We are now in Denver where things are looking more postively too. Life does throw us some curve balls now and then. Dr. Litton is in the groups\ that Scott will join in a year and Eric Anderson's daughter went to school 1-12 with Sara.

We pray for your continuous recovery and I will try to arrange a get together....whatever you feel like....in August.

Love, Sharon

Shannon,
Thanks for inviting me to your blog. You and your mom have been on my mind for a while & I am so glad to here Shirlene is doing well. My mom had breast cancer just before Alycia was born so I know how you must be feeling and a little about what your mom will be going through. You are a good support for her I'm glad she has friends and family close by. We wish you all the best, quick & healthy recovery.
